Jeannie is participating in a project with the American Heart Association to celebrate American Heart Month by knitting red hats for all babies born in February at participating hospitals. The project is designed to raise awareness of heart disease, the number one killer of Americans, and congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defect in the country.
- Hats for newborns and pre-mature babies. You can find a gazillion free patterns on Ravelry, or ask Jeannie for her favorites.
- Red cotton or acrylic.
- Medium to heavy weight.
- Machine wash and dry.
- Simple hat designs (buttons and bows are pretty but can come off and become dangerous for little ones).
