September Meeting

What great knitting was on display at the September meeting!

Jeannieʼs thrift-store treasure

Naomiʼs Seahawks mitts
Sueʼs doily
Sueʼs Nurmilintu scarf, with modifications
Patʼs shawl

Jeannie is participating in a project with the American Heart Association to celebrate American Heart Month by knitting red hats for all babies born in February at participating hospitals. The project is designed to raise awareness of heart disease, the number one killer of Americans, and congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defect in the country.

  • Hats for newborns and pre-mature babies. You can find a gazillion free patterns on Ravelry, or ask Jeannie for her favorites.
  • Red cotton or acrylic.
  • Medium to heavy weight.
  • Machine wash and dry.
  • Simple hat designs (buttons and bows are pretty but can come off and become dangerous for little ones).
Bring your hats to the December meeting and Jeannie will mail them all in.

Letʼs knit, talk, share

What will you enter in the Washington State Fair this year? You will find dozens of categories in the Home Arts section, including many for knitting, crochet, lace, and more. Several of our members have been successful winning ribbons, but the bigger thrill is seeing your handiwork displayed and watching people admire your work.

Instructions on how to enter are online. Take your entries to the Home Arts office on Friday, August 28; Saturday, August 29; and Sunday, August 30.
