Support Your LYS!

Visiting Makers’ Mercantile was a fun outing for guild members. For many, it was their first visit to this new shop in Kent. General impressions of the shop:
  • Great space, with good light, especially the classroom.
  • Very helpful, friendly staff.
  • Lots of pretty yarn (and buttons and knitting ideas and more).
  • Yummy treats from Ryliecakes Bakery.
Yarn! More yarn!
Joan C. found a project.
Naomi and Lisa found yarn.
Snakes on a post!
Yipes! Stripes!
Those who participated suggested another trip to Makers’ Mercantile sometime in the future and, perhaps, to other shops. Just doing our part to support our local yarn shops!

Nita’s Kona Hitchhiker

Many of the longest oooohs and aaaaahs at the April meeting were for Nita’s Hitchhiker scarf, which she calls her Kona Hitchhiker.

Nita and her scarf
Cary wants one too!
Nita said the scarf was an easy vacation knit that resulted in a beautiful, wearable scarf. She used Araucania Ranco Multy, a wool-nylon fingering weight yarn, and US4 needles. Lovely work, Nita!

Look on Ravelry at all of the beautiful Hitchhiker scarves.

April Flowers

It has been a blooming time for guild members, in terms of leadership, field trip, and knitting.

Leadership: Jeannie agreed to stay on as guild coordinator for the next year. Barb L. will take over responsibility for room reservations. And, Anne will be responsible for the membership list. Thank you! No doubt that everyone in the guild will be glad to help out when you need it. Just ask! And we extend our thanks to Jeannie, Joan C., and Sue L. for the excellent work they have done on our behalf during the last year.

Field trips: We will meet on Thursday, April 25, at 10 a.m., at Makers’ Mercantile in Kent. Visit the website for driving directions. We will meet at the store to knit, shop, and enjoy the yummies from the bakery.

On July 9, our regular meeting will be at Edgewood Garden. This will be a chance to see Ilga’s beautiful yarn and stunning garden. Plan to bring a sack lunch; coffee and tea will be provided. More details to come.

Next meeting: The May 14 meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. (note time change).

Now, knitting!
