Retreat Planning

It looks like our spring retreat is going to be fabulous! The retreat is:

Monday, April 2, to Wednesday, April 4
Dumas Bay Centre, Federal Way

For the best experience, sign up to attend the whole retreat. The cost at this point is $143, but may change slightly depending on how many people attend. The fee includes overnight accommodation, meals (lunch and dinner on Monday, breakfast and dinner on Tuesday, breakfast on Wednesday), and use of the classroom. Contact Jeanne for details.

The retreat will not feature formal classes but several demonstrations are planned to help you expand and improve your knitting skills.

Alternatively you can attend for a day. The cost is $15 for a whole or partial day, plus the cost of your meal(s); meals cost $9.03 for breakfast, $11.50 for lunch, and $18.50 for dinner. These prices are a bit higher for the day trippers; those who signed up to attend the whole retreat are covered under the previous prices in the contract.

If you plan to attend for a day, you must pay for the classroom fee and your meal fee at the March meeting, or mail your payment to Jeanne, so she can make meal reservations. Make checks payable to Puyallup Knitting Guild.

Many Scarves

Many knit-one-below scarves were on needles during the February meeting. Milly from Ben Franklin Crafts in Bonney Lake helped everyone get started, understand the pattern, and make the color changes so they are hidden. Milly is an experienced, terrific teacher who was able to get everyone off to a good start on the knit-one-below scarf. Several people already are planning the knit-one-below hat.

Bring your finished or almost-finished scarf to the March meeting to show off.

And special thanks to Lisa for setting up the meeting at Rainier Manor and keeping us motivated with coffee, tea, and cookies.

Knit One Below Class Update

Knit One Below Class
Tuesday, February 14
In addition to the information here,
you need to know this:
  • Lisa will open the Rainier Manor club house at 8:30 am. She will provide coffee, tea, cream, sugar, and a sweet treat (feel free to bring your own treats to share). She will have disposable cups but it is better if you bring your own coffee/tea cup.
  • Milly will start the Knit One Below class at 9 am. The class will end at noon. Milly will provide the pattern for the scarf and matching hat.
  • The cost per attendee is $12 (cash or check only), payable on the day of the meeting. Ben Franklin Crafts Bonney Lake is donating 50% of our class fee to the Bonney Lake Food Bank.
  • Supplies: Two skeins worsted weight yarn, approximately 220 yards each. You can use two solids or a solid and a stripe or whatever combo you like. Size 8 knitting needles.
Please let Lisa know if you plan to attend. Her e-mail address is in the newsletter, along with driving directions.
