Russian Join — A Technique to Know About

Sue L. heard this technique for joining yarns — called Russian Join — described in words. But because sometimes pictures are more descriptive, she found these instructions with pictures. It looks like a site mostly for machine knitters, but the technique works equally well for hand knitters. The Russian Join is especially useful for yarns where spit splicing will not work; that is, for yarns that do not felt.

Party Time

The annual holiday potluck was great fun. The food was plentiful and tasty.

Some Washington foster kids will enjoy the gifts that members donated. Sue L. will take them to a local Sleep Country store that supports foster children.

Bring:

• An item for a potluck buffet. Deanne is supplying plates, napkins, and utensils.
• Your own cup for coffee or tea or your own non-alcoholic beverage. Joanne will provide coffee and tea.
• Your knitting and your show-and-tell items.
• A new, unwrapped toy to donate to charity. Sue L. will deliver them to an appropriate agency to give children in the community a happier holiday.

Get out your favorite Christmas sweater, throw a holiday scarf around your neck, pull on those special knitted green and red socks, and join the festivities.
